Sonic Generations
Celebrating 20yrs of Sonic The Hedgehog
THE CONCEPT
To celebrate 20yrs of Sonic the Hedgehog Sega approached Youthology Media to create a high impact rich media online integration. The campaign targeted those 12-21 years of age both familiar and unfamiliar with the franchise and/or NEW storyline.

To highlight the NEW Gameplay we built a multi-functional overlay that brought visitors into the world of Sonic the Hedgehog - that featured Video Game Trailer, Image Gallery of sneak peek into featured levels & characters and a link that drove to a Sweepstakes Page where user's could enter for a chance to win the Ultimate Sonic Generations Gaming Package.

HOT SPOTS
The overlay began in a all too familiar place, The Green Hill Zone of the world that is Sonic the Hedgehog. We populated the scene with iconic imagery fans knew & love and "noobs" would soon familiarize themselves with. Each iconic image is a "Hot Spot" that represented a key feature of the multi-functinal overlay.

ANIMATION
To engage user interaction we included subtle animation through out the overlay. All the animation was inspired from the actually gameplay itself. The alternating animation of the floating and glistening of the golden rings, the rotation of the turnstyle upon rollover and the continuous bouncing of the spring helped move the viewer's eye across the overlay and give the user an opportunity to venture through the world that is Sonic the Hedgehog.
VIDEO
A High Video Completion rate was one of the main goals of the client for this campaign. What better way to represent video then with the famous Golden Rings that Sonic collects in the game. The video section featured multiple videos which the user was able to access with the "More Video" button.
IMAGE GALLERY
We chose to use the turn style that greets the user at the completion of every level. The alternating image of Sonic and his Arch Nemesis Dr. Eggman was a perfect choice for the icon representing this section.
